Recording voice-overs for student video
projects can be an overwhelming task for teachers, if they are not well organized. Our
experts at TechKids have put together a few tips and tricks to simplify the daunting task of recording multiple voice-overs.
- Keep in mind that students will need to have plenty of time to record there scripts since speaking mistakes are bound
to happen.
- Recruit a parent volunteer to use a camcorder for taping a student’s voice as she reads her script out loud. Leave the lens cap on the camera because
the sound can be imported into a movie making application with little difficulty.
- Locate a quite place to tape. If a quite place can not be found consider
constructing a sound booth out of cardboard boxes lined with egg crate foam.
- Have a student read his script with a pause after each sentence. If a
student makes a mistake, do not stop the tape and rewind. Instead keep recording
because the tape can be edited later. Remember to have one student practice reading his script while another student is recording
a voice-over.
